6 Steps for Planning a Winter Getaway at Our Hotel in the Smoky Mountains

The Oak Tree Lodge is the ideal place to stay during your wintertime getaway in the Smokies! With superb amenities and the perfect location, we have everything you need for a memorable stay. Here are six steps for planning your escape to our hotel in the Smoky Mountains this winter:

1. Find the Right Room

You’ve already chosen to stay at the Oak Tree Lodge, so now it’s time to select the room that will best suit your needs. All of our Smoky Mountain hotel rooms feature king or queen beds, private balconies, and refrigerators.

Since you’ll be visiting us in the winter, you might like to upgrade to a room that has a fireplace and a Jacuzzi. Few things feel as luxurious and indulgent as being able to relax in front of a crackling fire. You’ll be even more relaxed after a long soak in your private Jacuzzi. Is there any better way to chase away the chill?

2. Follow the Forecast

The Great Smoky Mountains are absolutely beautiful in the winter. However, it does get cold here, and there may even be some snow during your stay. This only adds to the area’s beauty, but it can be a pain if you are unprepared. Start looking at the forecast for your vacation at least a week in advance. This way, you’ll know whether or not snow is a possibility. This enables you to pack and plan accordingly. Once you’re here at our hotel in the Smoky Mountains, you can make use of our free high speed wireless internet access to stay up-to-date on the weather.

Even if there is a few inches of snow on the ground during your trip, our central location right on the Parkway makes it easy to get around on a wintry day. There are no steep mountain roads required to get to the Oak Tree Lodge!

3. Plan Your ItineraryA scenic photograph of the Smoky Mountains covered in snow.

The Smoky Mountains are known for their natural beauty. Many people come here to enjoy the scenery above all else. You can still do that in the winter, and you may even gain a new appreciation for the beauty and grandeur of this season.

You’ll want to leave room in your itinerary for enjoying some indoor attractions as well. In fact, some of the area’s best attractions are found inside. These include many live dinner shows, museums, and attractions that are suitable for the whole family. You’ll even get free Smoky Mountain attraction tickets when you stay with us!

4. Prepare for Winter Sports

Did you know that your trip to the Smoky Mountains can be turned into a ski vacation? It can with a visit to the Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort! Tubing, skiing, and snowboarding are just the beginning of the fun. Bring your winter-weather gear to take advantage of this excellent attraction.

5. Pack for Success

While packing too much can certainly be inconvenient, the same can be said for packing too little. Even if snow isn’t a part of the forecast when you are here, it can get a bit chilly. This makes packing a warm winter coat a necessity. Aim toward wearing several light layers that can be added or removed as necessary when the weather changes. That way, you’ll be comfortable all day regardless of where you are and what you’re doing.
